David Klingensmith

David says he is a recovering army brat who spent most of his childhood on east coast. After playing electric bass , upright and tuba in high school, he earned a bachelor degree from Rice University. He is presently an adjunct artist at the University of Houston in the area of jazz studies. He is the leader of the Blue Monks and a member of the Theory of Three (formerly the Houston Jazz Trio). He maintains a small number of students at home. David has performed with the Houston Symphony, Theatre Under the Stars and various notable entertainers. He is credited with numerous local and national recordings ranging from pop to free jazz. David says, "I worry a lot about the gnomes living under my bed--- their intentions remain unknown to me." He lives in Houston with his wife, Liz, and two children.
